Samagaun is a fantastic place to take day off on Manaslu circuit trek. This place is huge, has not much explored culture and has monuments made out of local resources. The village is as well worth exploring and so is the monastery of Kargyu Chholing Gompa. This gompa is so huge that it can be seen from far distance while entering Samagaun. The monastery complex has many buildings and in the buildings reside married lamas. One of the gompas as well houses large statue of Guru Rinpoche.

After touring around Sama we head out to one of the Glacial lakes namely Birendra lake. This lake is small but very beautiful site to see. The lake is not far than around an hour up and same down. This acclimatization is done to adapt to the higher ground.
