Poon hill trek is the most adored short treks in Nepal. The name of the trek comes from a hilltop Poon hill that lies in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The hill gets its name from the local community of Poon people who surround the nearby hills. Poon hill is around 3210 meters from the sea level and has no settlement on the top. And, it is rather a viewpoint for witnessing the mountain panorama of the Annapurna.

The trail that leads in and out to the final destination is what makes the Poon hill trek very beautiful. Furthermore, this aspect makes this trek the most demanded short trek in Nepal. This trek is completely inhabited and every settlement is significant. To add up, the lifestyle, culture, tradition and hospitality is different from one another. The cultural part aside, you will make your way through dense forest. The forest is home of rhododendron of different colors. To add up, this forest is home to several species of birds and animal. Walking on the trails of Poon hill trek is as well historical. Historical because this trail that was once used by the merchants of silk route trade.

Others elements like the stories and folklores shared by people adds up to the beauty. One other beautiful element of this trek is the hot springs in the region. These hot springs work as natural stress busters. Trekkers often take a dip in the hot springs to release their exhaustion from the trek. Also, hot spring is an ideal place for making friends with other trekkers. On the other hand, a very intriguing aspect of this trek is being able to wear traditional dress. Ghandruk, a traditional gurung village, allows you to enjoy wearing cultural dresses. On the other hand, the village houses a small and local cultural museum. This museum collects weapons used by locals and photos relating to historical events.

Overall, Poon hill trek is a wonderful short trek in Nepal. Also, you can enjoy this trek even in short time and without any experience. This trek is a true way of experiencing Nepal and its beauty. Book for this trek today at an unbeatable price!

It was A bit challenging for me but well worth the experience. The charming tea houses, the views at every turn made this a great place to visit.Sunrise at Poon Hill is amazing though be prepared to be there with many other people which in some ways was fun as you met people along the trek.Specially thanks to my guide Mr. Sudip and the company"Vajra Adventure” for your great service

If you are lucky ...

We heard about the amazing views, that's why I rated this 5/5. But we were not that lucky. White clouds all around us. We stayed at the top for about 30 minutes, waiting for a miracle. Apparently they don't happen too often; when there is no view - don't waste your time waiting. We talked to the guy who waited at the top for 3 hours and the weather did not change. Mind you, it was May; perhaps earlier visit would be better.

One of the best view point. but have another place nearby with better view.

Just a few day trek and you can see a very breath taking panorama mountain view. It's a bit crowned when sunrise and very cold in winter but it's good that they have small coffee stool up there. But there is another place on the way from Ghorepani to Tadapani that have the same view (Might be better and closer to mountain) it's less crowed and take about same distance from Ghorepani to Poon Hill. If you want to see this panorama view but want to avoid crowed place. You can come here instead.

We took a 4 day trek up to Poon hill. The path is very obvious. If you don’t carry much, there’s no need for porter. The start consists of a long staircase uphill. The rest of the days are easier.  Spend a night at Gorapani and take an early start up the hill Don’t miss the great sunrise

For everyone, and an absolute must.

Does not matter what age you are, or in what shape or fitness you consider yourself to be. Do it.One of the most magnificent panoramas in the world, the sunrise is breathtaking. the trek is not long (you can combine it with the Annapurna, but that's another story :) ), and is absolutely worth the effort.Dress warm, but don't get out of your way with layers - once you start climbing - you start sweating. and nobody wants to climb with the warm hat in one pocket, gloves in the other, and the huge jacket in one arm.Enjoy

excelent

It is worthy for a long stiff path up to the hill for enjoying the view of other mountains. But you have to wake up early for catching up the sun before it rises.

Wonderful

Poon Hill is a popular destination for trekkers in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Most people arrive here in the early morning to enjoy the beautiful sunrise views. It is a must do activity in Nepal. Don't be late in the morning.

Magical view like those in the fairy tales

Magical view from the top with layers of mountains and snowy peaks as the backdrop. I went there in the monsoon so didn't get much of the sunset and sunrise views, nevertheless it was still magical to sit up there and soak up the view and surroundings.

An Amazing place to get experience the essence of the Himalayas

Poonhill was one the highpoints of a 5 day trek in the Annapurna region. I was planning to go to ABC but had to change plans due to lack of time. Poonhill and the rest of the trek didnt disappoint. Being at PoonHill and seeing the mountain peaks all around u makes u feel dizzy. The views are amazing and you spend all day staring at the mountains and absorbing the views. the hike from Ghorepani is a short one - about an hour or so. if you have trekked up to Ghorepani then this would be an easy hike. the early morning views are clear and great. monsoon (aug ) can have rains and lot of cloudy mornings and evenings. totally worth the trip!!!

poon hill trek with Nepal Hiking

Lovely walking through rhododendron forests and then fantastic views watching the sunrise from the summit of Poon Hill. Chose a lower altitude than other options as one of our group was only 7 and hadn't been to any altitude before. Extremely supportive and helpful guide and very attentive porters unlike some of the more commercial European and American based companies that can afford more advertising. Looking forward to my next visit to Nepal where I would use Vajra Adventure(VA) again without question.

Breathtaking views from the roof of the world.

After a 5am wake up and a chilly morning climb up some steep winding steps, you are treated to a truly majestic panoramic view of the Annapurna mountains ablaze with the light of dawn. There is a watch tower to get a better view too. It is a definite must.

Except for Clouds this would be spectacular !

Go early in morning before other tourists and while your strength is great as in heat of day and amongst crowds this can be an oppressive place but in early rising sun its magnificent !

The best of Dhaulagiri range.

Poon hill always keeps me excited every time I go there for the sunrise view as every time is different but the excitement never goes down. The mesmerizing view of the dhaulagiri ranges and Annapurna ranges filles your eyes and soul .

the perfect destination for short trekking.the perfect destination for short trekking.the perfect destination for short trekking.

This is an absolutely recommended place to visit if you are looking for a short and fun trekking, If you don't have enough time you could go by jeep on Ulire and than start trekking or if you want to enjoy your trekking just start your trekking from Nayapul or Birethati. we started from Birethati at 6 am morning and reach Ghore pani at 3 pm of a day just a single day to reach there and enjoy the mountain sunrise the next morning and travel from Ghandruk, found a jeep on Ghandruk and back to Pokhara same day because I was on a tight schedule. Thank you Vajra Adventure and the team for arranging this opportunity ...

Breathtaking view

We've been there at sunrise. unfortunately there were a lot of clouds but still the view was amazing. It's a nice trek and worth the effort

Amazing

Incredible view. Watching sunrise and reflect on the mountains was just outstanding. It was worth getting up at 5am !!

Hello Poon Hill

Poon Hill is just five days trek from Pokhara in total. Its an amazing place to visit and experience the life in Himalyan region of Nepal. We can see a panoramic view of mountains climbing up the hill from Ghorepani early in the morning. Its always full with the people coming here from different directions.People sell tea and coffee there. Its where the real beauty on earth lies. Wonderful place..You can find 18 Different species of rhododendron blooming in April n May.

Beautiful and Adventurous

It was awesome trek for nature lovers and fabulous time in the trekking and adventurous trip and people very friendly.

Amazing views!

Poon Hill is a must visit place if you are in Ghorepani. It is hardly 45 to 50 minutes climb up (gentle climb through well laid stairs). The views are just amazing, one can see the entire range from Dhaulagiri (south face), Thapa peak, Niligiris, Annapurnas Fang and South, Macchapuchare and various other peaks. The Sunrise coming over these peaks is an amazing sight.

Best place to trek

It was a great moment while trekking with friends and a experience one. It is really an awesome place to hangout with each other.

Worth all the steps

A challenge but well worth the experience. The charming tea houses, the views at every turn made this a great place to visit.Sunrise at Poon Hill is amazing though be prepared to be there with many other people which in some ways was fun as you met people along the trek.

Breathtaking Views

Although, we were not looking forward to walking up MORE steps considering we were on day 11/14 Poon Hill was a nice highlight. I recommend properly layering your clothes because you will sweat through a few items if you trek with a purpose.A couple of tips:1. Take some cash with you because there's a tea house on the top.2. If you trek rather quickly I wouldn't leave too early because you'll freeze your butt off waiting for the sun to rise. It only took us 30mins and I was ready to descend before the sun had fully risen.

Short Trek

The sunrise trek up to Poon Hill is worth it if the weather is good. The 4.20am wake up & hiking in the dark is no problem but the 200 other people you have to share the view with may bother some people. We had some cloud cover that started to clear & we stayed long after the majority of visitors left so it was great. There is a little stall that sells hot tea which was excellent. There were a few people coming up the hill as we were going down around 7am & I expect they would have the lookout to themselves.

Beautiful views, but not as easy as I thought

Due to not having many days in Pokhara I decided to do a short trek and because Poonhill is described to be the easy and shirt trek I chose to do it in 4 days.I would consider myself to have an average fitness but having to climb that many steps on the first day (1100m height difference) nearly defeated me. The second day was another height difference of 800m over 4-5 hrs. The 4.00 am wake up call on the 3rd day to climb up to Poonhill was definitely worth it. Having said that, really do yourself the favour of getting up there before 5.00 before the crowd arrives. The 3rd and 4th days were my favourite going from Ghorepani to Ghandruk and from Ghandruk to Nayapul. Walking through forests and seeing waterfalls was beautiful. Speaking from a Physio's point of view, get yourself some walking sticks or let your guide organise a bamboo stick for the decline, this really saved my knees going down.A great place to sleep over is Ghandruk guest house. Beautiful garden and stunning views. All in all, great route. There is the option of driving up to Ulleri if you would like to bypass the dreaded steps.

Unforgettable

Magnificent views, snow that turned jungle into a Winter Wonderland, smashing sunrises, uncompromising sunsets, unmatched nightskies and a delicious feeling of satisfaction at the end of each day.

Increible experiencia!!!
