If you think you are not ready yet or don’t have time for longer treks, Mardi Himal trek is a perfect escape. This trek cobbles an interesting trek from the longer treks in the Annapurna. A hidden treasure in the shadows of famed Annapurna base camp trek. Mardi Himal immediately emerged after the recent idea of short trekking in Nepal. For travelers with limited time, this trek has been a very beautiful destination.

In a short period of time, on the trails of Mardi Himal trek, you will realize that travel can be the most rewarding. You walk through the villages of indigenous communities and eat meals of Daal Bhat. Furthermore, you embrace wildflowers and Rhododendron is which is spectacular. Living in the community-owned tea houses and having a first-hand experience of culture is also the catch. The Annapurna at the backstage never leaves you alone in the journey. Mardi Himal Trek is a life-altering adventurous trek that you would never ever come across in life.

Drive to Kande and trek to Deurali (2540m/7 hrs)

Another day on road, we drive to one of the hill stations on the outskirts of Pokhara known as Kande. Kande is spectacular viewpoint for the mountains in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri but on clear day. From Kande we take our bags and begin trekking towards Pothana and further to Pitam Deurali through beautiful small villages. The first hour of walk on stone slated trail takes us to Australian base camp. On a clear day Australian base camp offers a beautiful views of Himalayas in Annapurna. From Australian basecamp we again enter dense forest. The trail somehow gets more gradual and easier. We walk some easy ups and down on beautiful trails tucked in Rhododendron, maple, pine and hemlock forest until we reach Forest camp and further to Deurali. Overnight in Deurali.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Deurali (2540m) – Low camp (3035m)

If the weather is clear we wake up with splendid views of Annapurna south and Machhapuchhre. From the open hilltop of Deurali the trails run into the deeper section of forest, higher we go better we are surrounded with Rhododendrons of every hue. The Himalayas get closer and the view of Machhapuchhre 6990m is profound. The entire day is spent on serene trails with handful of tea houses that cater hot meal and clean beds. We spend the day in low camp and enjoy the surreal natural presence.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Low camp (3033m) to High Camp (3590m)

After completion of breakfast we get our legs on the trail. We walk on the highland pasture and out of the dense forest, except for the rare occasions when we come across patches of Rhododendron forest and moreover soaring views of the mountains. This portion of the Mardi Himal trek is famous for spotting of Impeyan pheasant; the national bird of Nepal. We call it a day in Low camp and enjoy the surrounding vista. Teahouses in low camp may not have enough rooms to cater trekkers in season which may result in more natural form of accommodation under the tents.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

High Camp (3590m) to Upper view point (4200m) and back to High Camp

On this day we plan to watch sunrise over the mountains. High Camp is a grassy knoll and a viewpoint for the mountains in the surrounding. Furthermore, we trek to upper viewpoint known as the Mardi himal base camp. The trail is not very demanding but an additional care is required to avoid haphazard on sheer and strenuous sections. On summer days the viewpoint is a beautiful grassy land with sheep and yaks grazing on the pasture. As we start very early to make it to sunrise, we return back to the teahouse in high camp to have our breakfast. In snowy conditions it is difficult to reach the base camp because of snow piled on the ridge. Overnight in High camp.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

We trace the same trail back until low camp from where the trail separates. This day is completely dedicated for downhill trail and we descend for around 6 - 7 hours. The view towards the north and the south is immediately obstructed by dense forest. There are no settlements beyond Low camp and until Siding. Overnight in Siding.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Trek to Lumre and drive to Pokhara

This is the last day on trail and before we reach to a point from where we catch our vehicle back to Pokhara we still walk for around 4 hours. We walk on off road track and downhill until Lumre. Unlike the previous day we see plenty of settlements and farming fields of locals. Once we reach Lumre we board our bus for 2 hours drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

This is a great adventure

This is a great adventure, quite demanding physically with lots of stairs to climb and descend but the scenery varied and the mountain views breathtaking.

by Nicole on Mardi Himal Trek
This was a great 10 day Trek.

This was a great 10 day Trek. The views are amazing and the 168km distance you travel is very satisfying. The elevation changes are significant from day to day and you should be in good condition for lots of stairs up and down. Very safe location to travel in a small group.

Explicit service and trek!

I've already done the Poon Hill trek with another guide, so I went for Mardi Himal. This was truly the best experience I've had, thanks to Vajra Adventure. Good and professional service who answered to my every needs, and helped me way over what you usually can expect from a trekking company. I had Govinda as a guide who's 200% kind, and has a lot of knowledge and experience in the area. He was highly professional and I felt safe and well-taken care off all the way.

Great Services for Mardi Himal Trek

We are gone to Mardi Himal trek by Vajra Adventure. Kathmandu, Nepal. Service was great. We were traveling a group including me, Mr. & Mrs. Pareek, Daxa Patel, and others. I will go again to Mardi Himal Trek with my friend in the future with Vajra Adventure So, I highly recommend Mardi Himal Trek to all.

10 days Mardi Himal Trek

Excellent experience with Vajra Adventure Team. Just came back from Nepal after a 12 day customize trek to Mardi Himal. Have been taken such good care of me by my trekking guide that I ended up gaining weights instead of losing them during the time! Everything was so well organized from the first enquiry till my international flight took off from Kathmandu - the Vajra Adventure staff was the warmest crowd I've met in Nepal (Shaurab, Binita, Sameer, Hem). they also have a hostel not in Thamel, named dormitory Nepal. I stay there after my trekking. I always regrets that why did-not I stay there before my trek. dorm Nepal is just awesome and more than home for me.

Brilliant Trek

My partner and I did Mardi Himal Base Camp followed by Annapurna Base Camp over 10 days in May, and absolutely loved it. We had stayed at the hostel linked with Vajra Adventure (Dorm Nepal), and arranged our trek whilst there.

We decided on Annapurna Base Camp, and were advised to go via Mardi Himal rather than Poon Hill - as we were told you get better views and less people. And we were so happy we went with their idea as they were so right. We got brilliant views at every stage, and also managed to avoid the rain every day. We would hugely recommend going on this trek if you've got limited time.

We decided on a package so everything was included - transport to Pokhara, accommodation in Pokhara, all tea houses on the trek, all meals on the trek, our permits, and everything for our guide as well. We checked around in Thamel for prices before we booked, and Vajra Adventure was cheaper than all but one (also much cheaper than other websites booking at home) - but we went with them due to the extra security we felt from knowing the guys from the hostel. We can't fault anything about the trek. The guys in the office were brilliant and everything was arranged easily (included with the contract we signed was also an itinerary for the trek). Raj (our guide) was really knowledgable about the trek, pointing stuff out all the time and we felt safe the whole time, and if we come back to Nepal for another trek we will definitely try and go with Raj again.

We had such a good time and 100% recommend trekking with Vajra Adventure, and definitely recommend staying at their hostel (Dorm Nepal) if you're in Kathmandu.

Best trekking experience ever

Last week I trekked to Mardi Himal Base Camp together with Raj from Vajra Adventure. It was a great trek along a beautiful ridge with amazing views towards Fishtail mountain and the Annapurnas. He was a wonderful guide, very helpful, kind and fun. He pointed out the mountain peaks for me, introduced me to some national birds and plants along the trail, learned me to cook Momo in one of the Homestay teahouses and teached me some Nepali. I would definitely recommend to book with them and have Raj as a guide! You will have an amazing time and get to know a lot about the local mountain life and culture.

Excellent service and a great experience.

A friend and I chose to do the Mardi Himal trek with Vajra Adventure and had an exceptional time. Our guides Prakash (PK) couldn't have been better - well humored, professional and always looking out for us. As we weren't seasoned trekkers we were uncertain whether we'd enjoy 10 continuous days on the move, but our doubts were soon put to rest as we enjoyed both the challenge and the views. We also booked a two-day white water rafting trip with Vajra Adventure, which again surpassed our expectations.Overall I'd recommend the service of Vajra Adventure to anyone and would love to utilize their expertise again in the future.

Amazing trek, incredible hospitality and the best guide.

These guys are amazing, I can't rate them highly enough. The trek we went on was incredible and our guide. Govinda was the perfect companion. They are the best. Also highly recommend the Mardi Himal trek challenging but very fun and awesome views. Thank you very much Vajra Adventure for everything.

Awesome 10-day Mardi Himal Trek

Great job of organizing & managing this scenic trek by Vajra Adventure. The trek started at Kande (at 1770m) traveling through beautiful forest & ridge trails to the 4300m ridge at the foot of the Mardi Himal. This vista point provides an excellent close-up view of the magnificent 6997meter Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail) plus 13 other beautiful snow-covered peaks. Trek final night at a home-stay in historic, fascinating, & charming village of Lwang (1460m). Was a truly fabulous trek!

Good service in an affordable and customisable package.

There were two of us from Singapore and we went for a 10 days Mardi Himal Trek with Vajra Adventure. It was a most unforgettable experience! Our guide Dawa and Hem (porter) took care of us well throughout the trip. Everything was well arranged so we could focus on enjoying our walk. Govinda was even kind enough to make bamboo walking sticks for us along the way!We walked through deep valleys, mountain passes, and ancient forests. Although we made some minor changes to our itinerary upon arrival in Nepal, Sameer helped us to take care of it and arranged for something that met our budget.Overall it was a rather customizable package at an affordable price. If you're thinking of going for a trek with Vajra Adventure, you're in good hands!

Mardi Himal Trek Review

We meet Sameer while I was staying in Dormitory Nepal in Kathmandu, we couldn't have asked for a better company to organize a Trek with. Their initial advice was friendly and informed with no expectation of booking. They made sure we were choosing the best Trek for us and our experience, not the one which made the company the most money. We really did not want a busy trek, there are many tourists doing Poon Hill and Annapurna base camp and we wanted to avoid this as much as possible. We also had a desire to bird watch and explore the forests of Nepal. The Mardi Himal trek was the perfect trek, we rarely saw other hikers, we spent three great days in Rhododendron forests in the foothills of the Himalayas and finished with two great alpine days above 3600m in waist-deep snow. Our guide Dawa was accommodating and made sure our every need was looked after. Upon arriving back in Kathmandu we were taken out for a nice coffee by the gracious owners of Vajra Adventure (Shaurab & Sameer).  I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking to do trekking in Nepal.

An incredible time in a beautiful country.

My friend and I had never been to Nepal, we decided to go trekking in Annapurna region in between that we meet Sameer in Dormitory Nepal, who helped us to arrange trekking to Mardi Himal. Our experience trekking was incredible, the highlight of our trip. Our guides Govinda and Karma (Porter) were wonderful and the local Nepalese people in the Annapurna region are amazing. The Mardi Himal trek is highly recommended! Thanks to Vajra Adventure for everything !!!

Mardi Himal trek

Wonderful place to visit. New trekking route and has very interesting trail route. It is new and unexplored, Hence has one of the most dense forests, peaceful villages and peaceful and lesscrowded all the way up to Mardi Himal Base camp. The views of villages like Ghandruk and Chhomrong, Machhapuchre, Huinchuli, Annapurna South, 2 and 3 from the High camp top is amazing. The trek is little tougher than ABC, the trail route is small and little risky. The mountains are very steep. Worth taking the pain though. A must visit place.

Awesome Time!!

We went on a 10 day trek to Mardi Himal Base camp and we were lucky enough to have Govinda as our guide. The trek was hard but great and was made even better because of Govinda. He’s a really nice guy and couldn’t do enough for us. He also makes a mean Dal Bhat! Dal Bhat power 24hour!Thanks! Govinda and Hem.

Highly recommended!

we approached Vajra Adventure to organize a Nepal trip based on their Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Shared and Sameer always replied to emails promptly with helpful information and gave valuable suggestions for tailoring our trip to the days we had available. We did a 10-day package involving tours of Kathmandu, Mardi Himal trek, and a couple of days in Pokhara. We had an excellent time with or guide Dawa and were always very well looked after by the BT team. We look forward to returning to Nepal in the future and BT is highly recommended.

I really don’t believe you will find a better price and a better experience than Vajra Adventure

Simply the best! I highly recommend Vajra Adventure if you are looking to trek in Nepal. It is run by a group of friends that are very passionate about trekking and have all done the treks many times. I did a 5-day trek in the Annapurna region (Maldi Himal trek) with two other people and a guide from Vajra Adventure. It was simply amazing. I did not have any plan when I arrived in Nepal and they were extremely helpful and planned everything for me for the cheapest price I could find. They genuinely care about the experience of the customers, not how much money they can make off of people. The prices were extremely fair and our guide was awesome. Everyone knew him on the trail and he took us through smaller Nepali villages to see what most people don’t get too. He was extremely knowledgable on the area and mountain safety in general, was very funny and catered to the pace of the group. He spoke good English and taught me Nepali along the way! They helped me book more than just trekking during my time in Nepal, they weren’t pushy at all and simply just told me what options I had. I really don’t believe you will find a better price and a better experience than Vajra Adventure.

We'll use Budget Trekking again and again!

This is our third visit to Nepal and each time we've chosen Budget Trekking to organise everything for us - transport, drivers, guides, hotels, airport pick up, cultural visits and treks. They have never let us down and indeed our holiday is enhanced by their careful and thoughtful attention to our wishes and needs. we feel in safe hands. Our guide Dev has been with us on each of our visits and we now regard him as a dear friend. He is always alert, checking we're happy and that everything runs smoothly, as well as that this is very good company.

Mardi Himal Trek- Great Experience

From the beginning, I was impressed by the Vajra Adventure organization. Everything from pre-trip planning, arriving at the airport, and navigating Kathmandu was done with efficiency and precision. I was particularly impressed by how Sameer handled a variety of contexts-- he was consistently calm and personable and handled everything with professionalism. In addition, Sameer seemed to treat everyone, from the members of the trek to his employees (the porters, bus drivers, etc) with respect. Before my trek, I had the opportunity to visit Sameer home village and participate computer distribution program conducted by Pailo Paila. I was very impressed by the ways in which Sameer was giving back to his community. Based on my observations, it was clear that Sameer is deeply connected to Nepal and was very open to sharing perspectives on culture, religious traditions, and food.

memorable trekking to mardi himal

We are very satisfied with your service by 3 people in trekking, they were very nice, responsible and good communication with us, and give us much help through the whole trip. We felt very happy in the past 10 days for trekking. It was a memorable experience for us. Thanks, Vajra Adventure for all these things.

Mardi Himal 10 day trek

Sameer from Vajra Adventure is one of the most sincere, friendly, and relaxed tourist managers I have ever met. He took the time to sit with us and find out what we wanted from our trip, albeit we weren't too sure exactly what we wanted but he was able to help plan a trip that suited us. It's always good to meet someone you can trust and that puts you at ease and who doesn't cut corners. Our guide was equally friendly and good fun to have around, relaxed but able to motivate us when we needed it. The whole experience was amazing. I'd love to do it all over again and would definitely recommend Vajra Adventure. Enjoy :)

best trekking agency

Vajra Adventure was awesome to work with. They were very flexible and accommodating. Everything was taken care of as described. They were very helpful when my bag did not arrive in Kathmandu from India ( Air India) they went airport with me and help me to claim my bag. I didn't have good English Communication but still, it was not a problem for me. In the hotel also they help to explore Kathmandu, the hostel dormitory Nepal was a fantastic place to stay when you are in Kathmandu. They have Hostel, Trekking Agency, and charity organization. I am very happy they took me to an orphanage they are helping in Kathmandu. and donate some foods and clothes, which was done from my hand. I promise sharab and Sameer that I am coming Nepal next wear with my wife and we are going another trekking for sure with them. Highly recommend this company.

These guys are fantastic! I did the Mardi Himal trek in November and it was great. I was on my own, and being a last-minute decision, I was a bit underprepared for trekking alone, but my guide PK was brilliant, it was just like walking with a good mate for 10 days. Everything was really relaxed and easy-going. He sorted everything for me from my permit to accommodation and food along the way, I wanted for nothing. I packed light so didn't need a porter, but they are available if you need them too.The hike itself is spectacular, I would advise Mardi Himal to anyone who wants to get away from the big crowds and see some amazing views of the Annapurnas.I recommend Vajra Adventure highly enough, and look forward to giving them a shout again on my next trip to Nepal! Thank you!

Second time I go Vajra Adventure !

This was the second time I booked a trekking with Uzol and his company. Three years ago I did mount everest basecamp wih Uzol (right before he had his own company). I liked him so much that I didnt doubt this year for my second visit to contact Uzol again.

Trekking with Uzol means that you are trekking with a friend. I did the sanctuary anapurna trekking this year with him. Because it was on such a short notice from my site, I arrived in Nepal without a booking. From the moment I contacted Uzol to ask if he is going on a trekking, he did so much effort for me. Cause his group allready started, he came back for me in the early morning to come and get me! I feel so safe with him, cause he and Sameer arrange everything (Permit, car, etc...) He really cares about you and thats why he feels like a friend. During the trekking we had a group of four people all from the same age, we had so much fun. Also the porter Rai was super nice. With Uzol it is Always fun, we laugh a lot. Also he is so carefull and really knows a lot about Nepal! He is one of the most nice and carefull person I know. He is also very enthousiastic and knows how to motivate a group to go that extra mile. IAnd oh jeah, he is also a great photographer. I cant wait to come back to the mountains of nepal and I would doubt again to go with Budget Trekking!!!!!

They presented us the best memory.

I did 10 days camping trip to Mardi Himal with my x-wife and best friend and his 13 years son. Before the trip, I was living in Kathmandu for one month. So I got plenty of time to discover and select the best company. Vajra Adventure was founded by one of my friends who went expedition with them. Actually they were the only one to manage to meet my desire to experience extraordinary things.Mr. Shaurab, the boss of the company, is not just a salesman. He would be pleased to be your friend if you want. He was the most sincere person I've met in Nepal. I still miss him a lot even after 2 years like I miss all the good days at the mountain.
