Everest View Trek is for those enthusiasts who wishes to see Mount Everest without the Slog. Furthermore, without having to tackle with fear of AIMS or relentless strenuous walks. Not everyone can climb 5000 meters above the sea level to see the world’s highest mountain. However, that should not discourage one who wishes to see them.

Everest View Trek is a leisure and relaxed trek. We buy all the world’s time to not only see the mountains but also the beautiful Sherpa culture. The trek takes you to several interesting places, from monasteries to local museums. Every place you would visit during this trek is significant in its own ways. You would visit the biggest monastery in Tengboche. Also, you would visit the monastery which claims to have Yeti’s scalp. Furthermore, you would also visit unique sherpa villages. While in the village, you will also accommodate in their homes. You will experience sherpa life, meal and as well culture.

On Everest view Trek, you walk through villages mixing with forest of Rhododendron and Pine. Often we would encounter Himalayan Tahr grazing on the slopes. Also, the spotting of colorful Impeyan pheasant at its own is magnificent. The most interesting part of the trip is in the village of Khumjung, which is by the Khumbila mountain. A very recognized and large village which is famous as the home of world record holder Appa Sherpa. The Sherpa who successfully climbed the Everest for 21 times. Khumbila is also home of Tenzing Norgay who was the first person to be on the summit of the Everest from Nepal.

ALTERNATIVE ITINERARY DUE TO FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS:

The flights to Lukla and back are heavily dependent on weather conditions. As a result, flight being cancelled for one day, couple of days or for several days is a known phenomenon for flight companies in Nepal. In case we face such circumstances with your holiday plans in the Everest, we will be following a contingency plan and the plan would be as follows:

Day 2

In case your flight was cancelled on the previous day, we will attempt to board our flight on the second. This will be our second attempt to make that flight. In case we make it to Lukla on this day. We will follow our original itinerary from Lukla for the next 14 days.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Day 3

This will be the third and last attempt made to board your flight to Lukla. In case if you are not able to board the flight on this day as well, we would do our best to find an alternative. The best practiced alternative will be a helicopter to Lukla. The helicopter in a sharing basis will cost USD 500 per passenger. In case you take the Heli, you will be dropped in Lukla in around 45 minutes. In case we make it to Lukla on this day, we will still follow the original itinerary to Everest Base Camp and head back to catch our flight on the last day from Lukla.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

Day 4

In case we had no luck on Day 3, we will no more wait for the flights or the weather to clear up and head towards Phaplu by road. Depending upon the package you select and the number of people in the Group, we will either take a private vehicle or a public jeep. The drive takes around 9 hours. This route to Everest Base camp was used by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first to scale Mt. Everest. It takes 4 days from here to join the main trail to the base camp. The trek joins the main trail in Monjo.

Accommodation

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

It is advised to have some extra days towards the end of the trip for the same reason. Flights might get called off for the same reason and you may have to wait for couple of days or more.

After landing on a 465 meter runway, we immediately retrieve our belongings and head towards the north to the village of Phakding.  We make our way through the school built by Sir. Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

It is uttermost important for us to spend a day in Namche in order to acclimatize for higher ground. The day may be a rest day but it is important to be active even on a free day and being lethargic day around is the worst thing to do. We will do small side trips of 2-3 hours from and to Namche itself. Namche as well is the last stop in the Everest, if you wish to buy any forgotten things for your trek this may as well be a last chance. We spend this day as well on Namche.

Namche – Khumjung

We begin uphill from Namche and leave behind the regular trail that leads to the Everest base camp. We climb all the way up to reach Syangboche airstrip – the highest elevated non commercial airport in the Everest region. Right above the airport we can see beautifully crafted luxurious hotel, build with all amenities and offering great views of surrounding mountains. Furthermore, we climb up beyond the pine forest until the opening of Khumjung. Comparatively Khumjung is a large village and offers close views of Kongde Ri and Thamserku. To add up, a sacred peak namely Khumbila rises above the grounds of Khumjung. This village is significant in many ways - one it homes the monastery which houses and preserves a so called yeti scalp, second it has a school which was made by the pioneer mountaineer Sir. Edmund Hillary, third the famous mountaineers Appa Sherpa and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa belong to the village. This village is a quite a place to spend overnight in.

Khumjung – Tengboche

After exploring Khumjung area for a bit, we walk with very slowly towards Tengboche from Khumjung. Tengboche is around 70 meters higher than Khumjung, but it takes around 2 hours if we walk with pace and around 3 hours if we relax, explore and walk. Initially we descend down to Dudh Koshi and cross it via a rustic suspension bridge to reach our lunch stopover. We have our lunch and make a final ascent to Tengboche monastery. Since we walk for few hours and the monastery opens only after 3:00 pm, we will explore the Tengboche monastery from the inside. The view of the mountains from the monastery as well is worth appreciation. We spend overnight in Tengboche.

  • Local Teahouse ( 1 Night)

Meals Included

  • 3 times meals during the trek (staple meal of Daal Bhat for lunch and dinner or  any one item from the menu.)

We walk around 5 hours on this day and majority of it downhill. Immediately after Tengboche we descend around 500 m, through the beautiful bushes of Rhododendron. The trail is steep and bends are pretty often but on this section of road keep you eyes open for Himalayan goat and lovely pheasant. The forest is as well known to inhabit snow leopards but never has been spotted by any of our members or guests. Once we reach Namche we would have enough time to relax and chat over coffee and bakery. Moreover, its pleasant to access the internet at the eatery. After brief moment in Namche we head further down towards Monjo. We cross the Dudh Koshi river twice, over the suspension bridge, at two different locations. Just befor Monjo we exit Sagarmatha national park. Overnight in Monjo.

Monjo is relatively quiet and close to Lukla and prevents us as well as porters and guides from rushing to Lukla. The trail that leads from Monjo to lukla is basically downhill but long enough to take 4-6 hours, depending on our speed. Once we reach lukla your trekking leader will reconfirm your flight to Kathmandu for the next day. Travellers spend rest of the day Chatting, drinking beer in the local bars and sharing experience with other travellers. Its very fascinating to see travellers who have finished the trek trying to assist the travellers getting ready with all their queries and pre jitters.
