After the earthquake and reading many sorry news from Langtang valley trek, we thought of venturing for this very destination after over a year from the catastrophe. To being with, we boarded our bus and went to our trek put in point of Dhunche and the road was completely intact. A little bit bumpy, as always, but other than that it was just the regular Nepalese roads. Beginning our trek on foot, we saw traces of earthquake and the impact it has caused in people’s life but was heart wrenching to hear people suffering from lack of tourist over the earthquake itself.

Langtang valley trek is not like how it used to be back in days. Recently, it has become more off the beaten and very rare and only people who would like to beat the heat visit. You would still see the unaltered terrain, walk through the forest housing red pandas and some rare habitats. You would still reside in the teahouses of the mountain settlers from Tamang communities. Tamang are descendants of Tibetans, unlike Sherpa’s of Everest and the indigenous tribes of Annapurna’s, they are significant in their own way. You will see people rebuilding their homes, tea houses, monasteries, chortens and their daily lives as well. Meanwhile, you will as well find that where previously were teahouses are no more currently, making you walk further for a course of meal or even accommodation.  Nevertheless, the locals said, the flowers still blossoms, the lakes are still beautiful and the rivers still flow and their eyes are desperate to see you.

Few mountains we recognized and you will as well see are Manaslu, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and few other mountains in Langtang and further in Tibet. We did not see much of destruction in terms of teahouses or even residential houses as we moved closer to Gosainkunda area but towards Kyanjin destruction can be witnessed in every footsteps. You can as well follow our youtube link https://youtu.be/p5BvodcNxog to see the compilation of our Langtang valley trek. Visit this destination today and help Langtang and help its people and equally enjoy the trip !

Your Langtang valley trek begins on foot from Syabrubesi. There are several option of reaching Lama hotel but depending upon your condition and preference we will make a choice. However, we would take the most scenic trail upwards. On this day you will come across several small bhattis, few destroyed small villages and beautiful landscape. You will walk over suspension bridges and walk through forests with chances of encountering wild animals. Previously, you would see gompas and small chortens which now is either cracked or under construction. Once you checkout from this place, the terrain becomes quiet and the settlement is very sparse. You will see many people rebuilding and even if it is a small tea shop. The entire langtang valley was destroyed first by the earthquake and second by the glacier. The first teahouse with limited accommodation facilities was opened within a month and slowly people constructed few more. At the moment, the village has around a dozen of basic lodges. The facilities are basic but the will power is amazing. In between Lama hotel and Langtang village you will see beautiful snow clad mountains, whitewater streams gushing to lower plain and a lot of rubbles and debris. There are chances of lunch spots being shut in between, so it is good to carry packed lunch or energy bars. Overnight in Langtang village. Meal plan B, L, D

Langtang village (3430m) to Kyanjin Gompa (3860m)

Almost after over a year of the quake, it is still a little difficult to find a place to eat in between today's destinations. Few places have been opened up but at times you may not find any attendees in the hotel for food or accommodation. Furthermore, you will see many changed courses due to the huge rocks gliding down from the mountains. However, Kyanjin has opened up fine amount of accommodation. Few are concrete and many are small and family run and with only couple of them. In case of large amount of tourists, the accommodation would not suffice. The only village which is in between and has handful of villages standing in Mundu. You will see several rocks draped with prayer flags as offering to mother nature. Overnight in Kyanjin. Meal plan B,L,D.
