Chitwan Wildlife Safari is the most exotic wildlife safari in Nepal. This tour gets its name from the national park itself. The name of the national park is Chitwan National Park. Once known as the Royal Chitwan national park is now Chitwan National Park. This UNESCO world heritage site and a national park was once a hunting ground for royals for big games. In current days it protects some rare species of plant, animals and birds.

This national park is the largest and the first national park in the country. Furthermore, it is the most accessible national park. Having said that, this national park lies close to the busiest national highways. It takes around 5 hours to reach Chitwan from Kathmandu by road and half an hour by air.

Chitwan Wildlife Safari begins from a place name Sauraha. Sauraha lies in the heart of the national park. This was once the home of tribal Tharu people. Recently, it is one of the most developed town with modern day amenities. Despite development, Sauraha is a mix of modern houses and tribal huts. One can see a beautiful mix of past and the present in this wildlife safari in Nepal.

What to see in Chitwan Wildlife Safari?

Jungle walks are one of the most interesting activities. This walk can last from anywhere from one day to one week, no matter the length you will not regret it. Further. Moreover, the more longer your stay, the deeper you venture. The deeper you venture the better are the chances of spotting rare species of animals.

Jeep Jungle Safari is a very good mode of viewing the exotic animals in the national park in a very short time. Jeep jungle safaris are very good when combined with other forms of jungle safari’s. This type of safari takes you deep in the jungle and chances of spotting tigers and rhinos are better.

Elephant breeding center lies in the heart of Sauraha. This came to existence in the first place to protect the endangered elephants in the region. Most of the time there are several baby elephant in the breeding center. It is a privilege to watch these baby elephants play and do their daily activities.

Elephant bathing is another beautiful act you can do while in the national park. It is a rare experience to bath an elephant in the river. The elephants love being in the water. Also, you can ask for Elephant spray if you want one.

River boating and Canoeing on Rapti river is a fabulous way of watching wildlife. The boat ride helps people see crocodile, alligators, deer, bear and many others. The local canoe boats are made out of single tree stem. Hence, these boars are very thin but the only way to navigate in shallow waters.

Tharu village, culture and dance is another unique way of life you can experience in the Chitwan. Tharu people are the original inhabitants of Chitwan national park. They were once tribal people and lived inside the jungle with animals. Even till the day there is a small communities of Tharu people who live right by the buffer zone. Every once in a while they perform dances in their traditional attire and it is a sight to watch.

Chitwan weekend trip

(English & Spanish)

Namaste! We visited Chitwan last weekend and it was AMAZING! Our guide Govin took us there and took really good care of us, made us feel comfortable at all times. Probably one of the best experiences I've lived here in Nepal. Our trip was perfectly organised and I feel like we made the most out of the time we had.

TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT (I'm actually thinking of coming back!)

Namaste!
