Khokana is a medieval Newari town located in the south end of Kathmandu. It is a neighboring village to Bungamati river and is a small and laid back village. The main occupation of the people here is agriculture, traditional oil refining, making sculpture and running hand looms. The center of attraction in the village is the square of Shekala Mai Temple, also known as Rudrayani. The temple survived the disaster and the best time to visit this temple is around Khokana Jatra festival where masked men perform different variety of dances.
