Jagat

Jagat is a common village name in the mountains. It means checkpost and tax clearance point for trades happening in between Nepal and Tibet. Jagat is a prominent village in Manaslu circuit trek and Tsum valley trek and is an ideal location for stopping a night. Jagat is located around 1410 meters and has beautifully carved stone trails.

The village is comparatively a large for a village and has fair deal of accommodation and food options. There are couple of campsite immediately after entering Jagat which is ideal for camping trekkers. The village also holds an elementary school which educates over 50 students. The major sources of income for locals are farming, tourism and government jobs. There is Manaslu area conservation project and a police checkpost in the village where the permits are checked.
