Ghopte

Ghopte at 3440 meters from the sea level is a rest area for trekkers trekking to Gosainkunda Lake. There are just handful of basic teahouses to serve trekkers in the region. One can clearly see the village of Tharepati across the ridge. Furthermore, in a dark night, the light of Trishuli bazar as well as the lights of Kathmandu making it look like bowl of fire, can be witnessed from here.

Ghopte is also known as the very place where Thai air crashed in 1992, leaving every passenger on board dead. You can as well hear the stories of Australian trekker who got lost in 1991 and was found alive after 43 days.
