Dunai is the district and administrative headquarters of Dolpa region. This riverside village also acts like the logistical base for treks to Tarap valley, Phoksundo Lake and Dolpa circuits.

The village is small yet fascinating for the landscape and surrounding. There are handful of shops with good stock. The village as well houses a Gompa, which is not big but yet is beautiful. The lodges and accommodation in the village is basic but better than in villages further towards the north. There are other facilities like phone service and restaurants as well.
