Bungmati

Bungmati was a very pretty and exemplary traditional village in the surrounding of Kathmandu valley until 2015. The earthquake in 2015 hit Bungmati very hard and the traditional houses and the villages fell flat on its face. Many temples and the historical monuments were as well destroyed but few temples survived and is still worth the visit. .

Bungmati is the very place from where Rato Machindranath, the patron god of Patan, was born. The god still lives but unfortunately the temple where the statue resided is now no more. The statue was recovered from the rubble.

Few things to see in Bungamati are Bungamati cultural museum, Dey Pukha; Buddhist monastery and Karya Binayak temple.
