Sikles is a village located at hilltop above Madi Khola parallel to Annapurna I, at an elevation of (1980m). The main inhabitants of Sikles village are the indigenous Gurung people. These people still continue their age old practices. On a normal day, witnessing women working on loom is common. Furthermore, you will see people using rusting tools for their daily needs. Hence, when In Sikles you live like a local, eat like a local and sleep like a local.

Sikles which is also known as Siklis, is the most well kept traditional villages in Nepal. This village to preserve its age old customs and environment practices eco tourism. You spend nights in clean rooms in the locally built mud and stone huts. You eat fresh meals of daal bhat made out of fresh local produce. On top, warm hospitality in this exemplary village. On the other hand, you can stroll early morning in the village and experience milking the cows. All in all, this is a complete village experience with the best views of Annapurna in the backdrop.

Trails encompassed in and out through the forest of Rhododendron is exceptional. These forests also act as dwelling for different mixture of birds. Arrival in Kathmandu

You could be already in Kathmandu or you may be arriving on this very day and whatever it is we welcome you to Nepal! Thank you for choosing Siklis village trek with budget trekking. On this first day we transfer you to your hotel/hostel. You will not do much except observing the ambiance around you and get acquainted with the country.

Trek preparation and shopping

This is an important day because today is the day when you will meet with your guide. The guide or one of our team members will brief you about the trek about more or less everything you need to know. After briefing we would thoroughly go through the trekking gear that we have. Furthermore, if there is anything that is not according to the trekking standard we will do last minute shopping of the trekking gears. On the other hand one of our backend office staff will get busy preparing required permits and logistics.

Kathmandu - Pokhara

We board tourist bus from tourist bus park in Thamel by 6:45 and leave the station at 7:00am. The bus takes around 7 hours from Kathmandu to Pokhara after multiple breaks in between. Overnight in Pokhara!

Pokhara - Kalikasthan to Yangjakot(1680m)

We drive to our put in point of Bijaypur which is 30 minutes away from Pokhara on a vehicle. We begin walking on the very day but only for 3-4 hours. From the very first moment on foot on the flat rice fields we start observing village life of people. We walk on the trails that passes right through the rice paddy fields and talk to the villagers working on the fields. Since Sikles is a village trek, we trek through villages from the very first day and it is the same today. En route, you cross Bhaise, Nawaldanda to reach Lama Khet, a small village surrounded by lush green hills. We call it a night in Yangjakot. Yangjakot is a beautiful village on the slope of a hill. The view of the mountains is splendid while the weather is clear.

Yangjakot to Siklis (1980m)

After getting our ACAP permits checked in Yangjakot we descend to a small stream or river namely Madi Khola. We stay on the banks of this very river for another 3 hours or slightly more. We as well come across a small hydropower which is under construction and small patches of villages. We walk on jeep track until the foot of very hill where on top is settled the village of Siklis. The final section of today is one of the most difficult parts of this trek. The final 3 hours is painstaking and uphill and tedious. Overnight in Siklis.

Siklis - Bhaise Kharka

So we head out to see the Annapurna IV glacier on this very day and it's a long walk all the way to the lake so we call it a day at Kharka. Kharka is a grassland or seasonal pasture land in around 3400 meters. The way to this place is a natural roller coaster and through patches of forest at times and beautiful views of the mountains at times. This Kharka has one abandoned house which is used as a small seasonal barn where usually people take shelter in. However, the option of camping as well remain. Overnight in Kharka.

Bhaise Kharka - Glacier - Bhaise Kharka

From Bhaise it is an uphill walk on the ridges of high hills with beautiful views of the mountains. It exactly takes around 2 to 3 hours from Bhaise Kharka to the glacial lake of Annapurna IV. The lake is usually frozen in the winter and it is close to impossible to reach the lake because of icy conditions on the ridge. Once we reach lake we observe the lake and have our packed lunch. We return back and take asylum in the same barn.

Bhaise Kharka - Siklis

We trace the same trail back to Siklis. Overnight in Siklis.

Siklis all day

Siklis is a very beautiful village which is setted in a cascading hills and clustered very close to each other. Gurung people reflect a lot of culture. Men wear traditional attire and work around the clock in the field of in collecting daily necessities whereas as women involve in knitting, weaving and making tradition clothes out of nettle fabric. In the evening on special occasion the people of the village perform dance and acts which is a must watch. Overnight in Siklis.

Siklis to Ghale Kharka via Tara hill top

First we head out on gradual ascend and towards the end the climb gets steeper but its not one of the most difficult climbs. We embark on fairytale like rhododendron forest, often with the most beautiful blossom of the season and a lot of mosses plants making it look phenomenal. Tara hill top takes around 3 hours to reach. It's a splendid scenery from on the top, you will see one of the best mountain panoramas in the Annapurna. From Tara hill top its almost downhill and through similar kind of forest setting. Overnight in Ghale kharka.

Ghale Kharka to Pokhara  (2000m)

It is around an hour of descend from Ghale Kharka to bus stop. The trail from Ghale Kharka is on  jeep track and via small patches of houses and terrace fields. Once we reach Khadar Jung we board on local bus to Pokhara. This bus ride takes only around an hour. Overnight in Pokhara.

Pokhara to Kathmandu

On this day we have our breakfast by 6:00 a.m. in the morning and head towards tourist Bus Park and board a tourist bus back to Kathmandu. The bus ride will take around 7 hours through curvy roads of hilly terrain with couple of breaks in between for snacks and lunch.

Important Notes

  • Please bring 2 passport size photographs for your trekking permit to the group meeting.

Essential Trip Information

  • The trip begins from Kathmandu
  • You need to arrive at least 2 days prior to your scheduled trek initiation date
  • You will begin your trip from day 2 of your arrival and only after signing necessary formalities
  • You need to bring along at least 2 passport sized pictures and hand it to the company on day 2.
  • In case of trek cancellation or trek forfeit due to unseen circumstances, we shall compensate with an alternate itinerary or activities.
  • You need to bring along at least 500 dollars additional in cash. The funds will help you in case of delayed flights or unseen circumstances
  • You need to aware of the company of any medical conditions developed recently
