Our Charity – Building classrooms in Langtang

As a part of social corporate responsibility of Budget Trekking, we help build 2 classrooms for Khomeni Primary School in Langtang. The earthquake had already done the damage and it was already 2 months after the earthquake. In one of the instance, where we had organized a trek in the langtang region we came across students studying on the field. Upon asking, the students were compelled to study under the sky because their building was shattered by the natural disaster.

Seeing students having to study in such harsh conditions, we at Budget trekking took a lead to raise funds for the same. As a result, we raised 5,000 dollars in Nepali currency. To add up, we also donated a portion of the profit generated in the same year which contributed to a total of 5,500 dollars in Nepali currency. With the funds we made a purchase of all required logistics from iron rod, cement to human resources. It took us a week to build 2 classrooms with the help of 4 team members of Budget Trekking, 2 volunteers, and 2 skilled manpower hired from the local community. The classroom took 2 weeks to complete. Our members camped in Langtang region and erected the classrooms.

This project was our 1st step to charity in Nepal and giving back to our community. After completion of the project, we had a very proud moment. Our contribution was acknowledged by the local community and the school by felicitating our team members and handing us a certificate of acknowledgement. This project would not have been a success without the support of our clients who were the biggest donors. Also to the people who joined our treks which helped us to donate for a good cause.
