Shey Phoksundo National park is the largest and the only trans himalayan national park in Nepal. The park comprises of two districts namely Mugu and Dolpa. This is the very national park that houses Phoksundo lake.

Shey Phoksundo national park is considered as one of the most beautiful mountain national parks in the world. It as well is home to many endangered species of animal among which some of the names are snow leopard and grey wolves. It as well houses himalayan Tahr, musk deers and yellow throated martens. The recorded species of birds are 200 and several variety of trees and vegetation.
