Kagbeni at 2840 m is a beautiful village and a green oasis in the middle of arid landscape. The village still practices a traditional Tibetan Buddhism and the lives of the people still revolves around folklores, magic and sorceries.
The houses are closely packed and almost all made out mud and separated by narrow alley’s. The village is located in the confluence of Kali Gandaki and one another river, it has better teahouses as well as better facilities. Prayer flags runs throughout the village and the village also houses a 17th century, Tibetan style Chorten.
Kagbeni is a village development committee and is the final village any foreigner can visit without any permits. This as well is the village from where trail branches to Muktinath and Upper mustang trek.
