Jomsom

Jomsom at 2760 meters is a very advanced village or town in the district of Mustang. It is the region’s headquarters, home to bureaucrats, military base, merchants and vehicle owners. Jomsom is basically a valley on the rain shadows of Annapurna and is surrounded by hills. Furthermore, Nilgiri is right across the town towards the north.

Jomsom offers good lodges and comfortable rooms. Most of the lodges are wooden houses but few are concrete as well, the wooden houses are warm. The menu is as vibrant as the accommodation and it is easy to find coffee, bakeries, confectionaries and cuisines from almost all over.

Jomsom has the only airstrip in the region and all the flights are conducted before noon. The reason behind early morning flights is the strong gust of wind that blows throughout the valley after 12.
