Accommodation and Food in Nepal

Nepal is a very diverse country even when it comes to accommodation and food options. There are over 9 five star accommodation in Kathmandu and around 5 in Pokhara. Besides these highest regarded hotels there are several other accommodations in the form of three star hotel, two star hotel, lodges, hostels, homestays, dharamshalas and tea houses.

Since the mushrooming of the tourism in Nepal, which dates back to the 80’s, the hotel business started flourishing in the country. Depending upon how much you wish to pay plays a decisive role on what kind of facilities you get back. Only in the mountains is where you would have limited option of accommodating in either teahouses or homestay.

Although Nepal is known for unlimited Dal Bhat tarkari throughout the country, cuisines from almost all over the world is available in cities. Alike the accommodation, food option as well is very limited in the mountains. The cuisines varies as per the community in that particular region. Other than several Nepalese cuisine you can easily find Tibetan, Chinese and Indian cuisines even in small restaurants. Places like Thamel and Jhamsikhel and lakeside in Pokhara is where you can find cuisines from the world.

Bakeries and coffee shops are as well on the rise. Halal food, organic food and Kosher food is as well available in the modern day. There are many street vendors and you can as well eat in nameless bhattis, bhojanalay and so called hotels but be careful of the hygiene.
